This is a watertight pyramidal caisson (or “CRT”), held by a metal frame. The camera is protected by a separate waterproof box which is fixed at the apex of the pyramid. The whole assembly is placed in a single recess in the wall of the fishway.
This combines the advantages of caissons with those of a classic underground room system, and overcomes many disadvantages of such systems:
Benefits retained
- Classic room : depth of field of the camera, estimation of fish size
- Caissons : cleaning by lifting up the chamber, removal from site possible for maintenance, reuse, waterproofing, direct lighting.
Drawbacks avoided :
- Classic room : problems with watertightness, infiltration, moisture, need to use a cofferdam to clean the glass, civil engineering costs.
Our Removable video-counting chambercan be equipped with direct lighting to provide a detailed view of the fish, and a second camera that can zoom in on small species close to the bottom.
All our systems use the acquisition software and video-counting software developped by Hizkia

It is supplemented by a backlight panel with LEDs, placed or inserted into the opposite wall, so without building a backlighting shaft.
